I have always had an appreciation for fine art, but only in the last
twelve years have I developed my own talents as an artist.
I took a few workshops in oil painting as a younger person, and in more
recent years increased my skills through lessons with Tom Murphy through
MATC and through a variety of classes and workshops. I have studied with
Leah Griffith Boyce (University of Wisconsin Extension), Diane Rath, a
painter and teacher at the Palette and Chisel in Chicago, Greg Kreutz, a
New York painter with national recognition At the
Scottsdale Artists School I have studies with Xiang Zhang, a
nationally known Texas painter of portraits and western scenes and Hedi
Moran, a floral artist. At the Art League of Bonita Springs in
Florida, I have studied with Jo-Anne O’Brien for the past three years. A
workshop with Arizona artist Eric Slayton was my latest intensive session
of learning.
In November, 2002, I took part in a two person, month long exhibit at
the Frehner Gallery in the Monroe (Wisconsin) Arts Center and until
recently my work has been at the Art Beat Gallery in Madison. At the moment
my works are on exhibit at the Attic Angles Facility in Madison, Wisconsin.
Many of my paintings today are done as commissioned works, a challenging
and somewhat daunting undertaking, but one that often brings out the best
in what I have to offer. I have found that there is no end of learning and
growing as a painter. There is always MORE! More challenges, more
surprises, and more fun.
I choose the subjects that I paint because of their visual and emotional
appeal. I hope that you will sense this in my work.
